The “most awaited literary love-fest on the planet”, the DSC Jaipur Literature Festival, is all set to enthrall literary enthusiasts again from January 20-24, 2012. What started as an intimate gathering of 18 authors and a few dozen visitors is now not only India’s but Asia’s largest literary event, drawing tens of thousands of visitors and presenting hundreds of authors.
Yes! considered Asia’s leading literature event, Jaipur Literature Festival is a celebration of national and international writers. The festival programme include readings, talks, literary lunches, debates, performances, children’s workshops and interactive activities held in the beautiful heritage property, Diggi Palace in central Jaipur, Rajasthan. This year too the festival gathers luminaries from the world of literature! This five-day festival promises to be among the finest literary events for 2012 with over 400 accredited Media houses from across the world and book lovers from across Asia and abroad. This year the festival will focus on a variety of issues including Bhakti and Sufi traditions, Arab Spring, Gandhi, Ambedkar and Anna, Vegetarianism, Censorship, ,writing from conflict zones, Theatre and other issues.
Jaipur Literature Festival nourishes narratives and nurtures a vibrant literary community. Once again, this coming January, the literature festival will generate and give voice to the marvelous and spontaneous energy that has become its hallmark. This year’s Jaipur Literature Festival would specially have Tom Stoppard and David Hare, two of the greatest living playwrights, cutting edge writers of non-fiction like the Tiger Mother Amy Chua, Richard Dawkins and Steven Pinker, great novelists such as Annie Proulx, Ben Okri, Jonathan Safran Foer and Michael Ondaatje, as well as the editor of the New Yorker, David Remnick as well as frontline reports from the Arab Spring and the art of writing for stage and screen.
The 2012 Jaipur Literature Festival, Asia-Pacific’s largest literary festival, will be held for 5 days from 20 – 24 January at the festival hub Diggi Palace in Jaipur, India.
