'Navaratra' will commence on the 21 September, 2017 this year. It’s nine days, 21-29 September, 2017 – are dedicated to the nine forms of 'Shakti' (Mother Goddess). This is the most important of the Navaratra's. It is simply called 'Maha Navaratra' (the Great Navaratra) and is celebrated in the first day of the bright fortnight of the lunar month of 'Ashvin'. Also known as 'Sharad Navaratra', as it is celebrated during 'Sharad' (beginning of winter, September–October).
While the elephant ride at the Amber Fort will remain closed during that period, starting a day earlier up-till a day after the last 'Navratra', i.e 20 September to 30 September, 2017 — for a total of 11 days, an alternative ride at the elephant village will be available for tourists during the same. While the hill climb by jeeps will be allowed as-usual.
