Forest officials have spotted a tiger cub with the help of a camera trap installed at the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan's Sawai Madhopur district.
The photo captured recently showed one cub with T 26 named Sharmilee in the Mai Dang region.
"Ranthambore has witnessed an increase in the number of cubs recently mainly because of the conducive habitat for tigers and conservation measures. The cub seems to be around three months old.
The photo shows only one cub. But evidence of more cubs is being verified through camera traps and pug marks. Besides, Pug marks of a cub have also been seen with T11 (Chiroli tigress) in Chiroli area as well as a cub was seen with a tigress in Bakola area.
Ranthambore National Park, which at present is home to around 52 tigers, including 26 cubs (not including the two spotted now), was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1957 and in 1974 it gained the protection of 'Project Tiger'. It got the status of national park in 1981.
