The Craft Mela has become a premium point of attraction for tourists and local populace in Rajasthan as it gives them the glimpse of the rich cultural heritage of the state and the nation.

Rajasthan Rural Non Farm development agency in association with Indian Council for Cultural relations (ICCR) have organized an 11 day long craft fair starting from December23, 2011 to January02, 2012, inviting artisans from different cities across India.

This is a perennial festival organized at different times of the year at Jawahar Kala Kendra’s Shilp gram in Jaipur. These festivals showcase the rich cultural heritage of not only Rajasthan but also of different parts ofIndia. Handicrafts and artistic products from Goa, Chattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Assam,Punjab, UP, West Bengal etc. are displayed here and sold.

People in large number gather to the venue to buy wooden furniture, pottery, spices, herbs, hand woven fabrics and many more attractive stuff. You can also find some antique items and a variety of pickles. If you are good at bargaining then it’s an ultimate shopping destination for you. Organizers also arrange folk dances, puppet shows and other mode of entertainment to keep the event alive.

It is one of the best places to buy a memento if you are a tourist and JKK is also an amazing evening hang out destination for the locals, the festival also offers mouth watering delicacies for food junkies like Dhokla of Gujarat, Dosa of the South, Kababs from Afghanistan, Paav Bhaji of Mumbai, Chat from Delhi.
