An official explained, “The AAI has proposed to close the runway daily from 1100 to 1800 hours during winter schedule, starting October. However, this is not feasible as it is the peak tourist season.” The Authority of India (AAI) will take up the extension work next summer.
Earlier, the chief minister in a letter to the expressed concern the AAI that the work planned for two years from October would have a severe impact on tourism in Rajasthan. Also, the decision was also opposed by various tourism associations in the state. The state MPs also met Civil Aviation Minister, Ajit Singh in this regard.
