The upcoming Metro Corridor in Jaipur from Mansarovar to Chandpole, that will link the Walled City and a few historic sites, will have stations with a heritage look.
A portion of the Chandpole station facade, which will directly connect the metro network to the Walled City in phase II, will be modeled on ‘Ghat ki Guni’ heritage. The design and architecture for the metro stations at Sindhi Camp and railway station are yet to be decided.
Like Delhi, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will model the station exteriors on the architecture of havelis in the Walled City. The idea is to replicate the look of the monuments at the stations as though they are a part of the heritage site itself.
It is also agreed upon that the new construction would not cause damage to the pre constructed buildings and not spoil the heritage structure. The DMRC officials said the technology will be successfully used to protect historical monuments in Jaipur, similar to Delhi and Chennai for Metro projects.
