Come winter, people engross in kite flying, loud music and food on their roof tops. However, this is a festivity that usually refers to ‘Makar Sankranti’, a kite flying festival that scientifically marks the beginning of warmer and longer days.The Annual Kite Festival will be organized by the Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan on the occasion of ‘Makar Sankranti’ on 14 January.  The event will be held from 11 am to 2 pm at Jal Mahal Pal, Amber Road, Jaipur. This festival is a wonderful spectacle as kites take to the sky all across the state. While one can enjoy a panoramic view of colorful kites in the sky , the celebration looks truly spectacular in the evening with a spectacular fireworks alongside the kites, brighten the city’s skyline.

Over the years, this festival has become a special attraction not only for locals, but also for the tourists visiting the city. The festival will have an array of events like exhibition of kites, demonstration of fancy kites as well as a kite flying competition. The kites and the string will be available for the tourists who wish to fly kites. Furthermore, on the occasion cultural performances by the local folk artists will also be an attraction . Folk dances like Kachchi Ghodi, Gair, Kalbeliya, Chakri, Puppet as well as Algoja, Langa Singing, Behrupiya, Band and Rawan Hatha Vaadan, among others will be performed. There will also be arrangements for Applying Mehendi for the tourists. One can also enjoy a Camel Cart Rides on this occasion.
