DSC Jaipur Literature Festival promises a musical treat to delight its audience from 24th Jan to 28th Jan 2013. The Music program will begin every morning from Jan 24th at Diggi Palace.
The Music stage this year has an independent venue and has moved to the Clarks Hotel Lawns. World music performers from India, Spain, USA, U.K, & France will come together to celebrate the festival each evening from 7.30 – 10.00pm. Morning music session will be hosted at Diggi Palace prior to the opening session each day. An array of musicians including Ani Choying, Sonam Dorji & the Drepung Loseling Monks will perform each morning. A special tribute to Faiz will be presented by Zakia Zaheer, Sayeeda Hamid and Rene Singh.
The strong and rustic throw of power packed musician and performers in the evening music sessions will make the starry night glitter.

Susheela Raman, Rajasthani band featuring Kutle Khan, Nathoo Solanki and Sam Mills will join forces with the mighty Mian Miri Qawals to open the first evening of festival.

Vincent Segal from France and the Master Musicians of Rajasthan will blend their tunes together to create a magical tryst.

A Delhi based progressive Fusion Band, will coalesce the natural emotion of Indian Classical music with a creative contemporary mix, belting out scintillating& heart hitting original compilations for music aficionados – Sufi to earthy music and from Hindustani to fusion Music.

Coke Studio @ MTV will usher a heady combination of Folk, Jazz, Sufi and Contemporary music, reinventing the way music captures our soul. Papon and Shilpa Rao will surely take the audience’s breath away.

Chicago Children’s Choir – USA
Chicago Children’s Choir, a multiracial, multicultural choral music education organization from U.S.A, will present a Concert Choir. As a touring ensemble, the Choir has performed throughout the United States, Canada, South Africa,Korea, Japan, South America and Europe and for dignitaries such as Bill and Hillary Clinton, the Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu .
Folk Songs (Punjabi & Hindi): Harpreet
Harpreet who is a classically trained vocalist, a self-taught guitarist and flautist will entertain through Punjabi and Hindi folk songs. He has performed at many popular festivals and prominent stages, and has composed music for theatre productions, documentaries and short films.
Joaquín Ruiz “Caravana” – Spain
A flamenco dancer from Spain, Joaquín Ruiz, will come with “Caravana”, a new musical live show interlaced with Mediterranean sounds, Arabic and Balkan melodies, Iberian and South American folklore.
Morning Program:
Audiences will also discover a more serene experience as the Buddhist music will be the key component in the morning sessions. Buddhist Chants by Drepung Loseling Monks, Buddhist Hymns & Chants by Ani Choying and Buddhist Devotional Songs by Chukie Tethong & Tenzin Norbu will make every dawn more soulful and spiritual.
Sonam Dorji, the master musician, vocalist, and composer who plays several instruments native to Bhutan and India, will captivate the audience with his music of Bhutan. International audiences know Sonam through his soundtrack contributions to the acclaimed Bhutanese film, Travellers and Magicians (2004) and his appearances at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival.
Faiz Ka Manzoom Safar, a poetic journey through the life of the famous poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz in his own poetry through the medium of recitation and music will be presented by Syeda Hameed, Zakia Zaheer & Rene Singh.
