Day 1 Arrival in Udaipur – A Gentle Beginning in the City of Lakes

Moving through these spaces reveals both the architectural history of the ruling dynasty and the remarkable relationship between the palace and its lakeside setting.

Pause at the elevated viewpoints overlooking the old city and surrounding water before continuing towards Jagdish Temple. The temple remains an active place of worship and forms an important part of Udaipur's historic centre. Walking between the palace and temple also gives time to see the smaller details of the neighbourhood—traditional doorways, shops, workshops and narrow lanes that are easily missed when sightseeing entirely by vehicle.

Later, visit Saheliyon Ki Bari, whose landscaped gardens, fountains and pavilions provide a quieter contrast to the scale of City Palace. Keep part of the late afternoon or evening free rather than adding numerous minor attractions. Couples can return to favourite lakefront areas, spend time shopping or enjoy the hotel at their own pace.

Day 3 Udaipur to Narlai via Ranakpur – Marble Temples and Rural Rajasthan

Leave Udaipur after breakfast and begin a scenic journey through the Aravalli region. Today's road section is much more than a transfer between hotels, as it moves away from the busy lake city into a landscape of hills, smaller settlements and rural Rajasthan. The principal heritage stop is Ranakpur, whose Jain architecture differs substantially from the royal monuments seen in Udaipur.

Visit the magnificent Ranakpur Jain Temple, known for its extensive marble interiors and highly detailed carving. Pillars, domes and ornamental surfaces create an intricate architectural composition in which natural light changes continuously as visitors move through the halls. The temple remains a functioning religious site, so appropriate dress and local rules relating to access and photography should be respected.

Continue afterwards towards Narlai and check into the selected heritage accommodation. The atmosphere here is intentionally different from Udaipur: the settlement is smaller, the surroundings quieter and the heritage property itself forms an important part of the stay. Travel onwards to Jodhpur, the historic capital of Marwar. As the city approaches, Mehrangarh Fort becomes the dominant landmark, rising high above the old neighbourhoods from a rocky escarpment. Check into the hotel and refresh before heading towards the historic centre for a first look at the city.

Spend the later part of the day around Clock Tower and Sardar Market, where narrow streets contain shops selling spices, textiles, handicrafts and other local products. The Blue City's dense neighbourhoods and the huge fort above create an entirely different atmosphere from Udaipur's waterfront setting. Return to the hotel after the market visit and enjoy the final overnight stay of the journey.

Day 5 Jodhpur Sightseeing – Mehrangarh Fort and Departure

Begin the final morning at Mehrangarh Fort, one of Rajasthan's most imposing royal strongholds. Its massive walls rise directly above the city, and the approach through fortified gateways immediately communicates the military power once associated with the Rathore rulers. Inside, however, the character changes as courtyards lead towards more refined royal apartments and museum galleries.

Walk through the principal palace sections and observe carved stone screens, decorated rooms and preserved royal collections. From the elevated ramparts and terraces, look across the famous Blue City, where tightly packed houses stretch beneath the fort. Continue to nearby Jaswant Thada, the elegant marble memorial associated with Jodhpur's royal family. Afterwards, transfer according to the confirmed schedule to Jodhpur Airport, railway station or onward departure point.
