MEWAR FESTIVAL

When: 08 - 10 April
Where: Udaipur, Rajasthan

One of the most colourful festivals celebrated in Rajasthan, the Mewar Festival coincide with Gangaur Festival every year in the month of March-April. During this period, the whole city is immersed in vibrant colors with the bright lights and decorations at the local market and numerous cultural performances adding to the vibrant traditional wear of the locals. Its legacy makes it unique as the ceremonies and the rituals associated with the Royal House of Mewar still take place with the same grandeur and pomp as they did 75 years ago. As the date of the Mewar festival etches closer, Udaipur welcomes the locals/tourists with a spectacular ambience of mesmerizing decorations and traditional songs sung by performing artists who start pouring into the city for the festival. The 3-day long Mewar festival is brought to an end with an impressive display of fireworks. All of these things make it a special experience to indulge more in the reality other than the usual sightseeing. You can also test your photography skills as you will find numerous picture perfect frames and moments with loud character.

SUMMER FESTIVAL - MT. ABU

When: 29 - 30 April
Where: Mount Abu, Rajasthan

When the weather starts to get warm again in the desert state of India, Rajasthan celebrates the unique 02-day Summer Festival in the only hill station of the state - MOUNT ABU, to welcomes the season with a  renewed excitement. The festival starts on the day of Buddha Poornima and is mainly a celebration of the vibrant soul of Rajasthan. The highlight is undoubtedly the Sham-e-Qawwali, which features some of the best folk singers from various parts of India, followed by many other soulful instrumental and vocal music performances and mesmerising sight of folk dances, like Ghoomar and Dhap.  Along with a colourful showcase of folk culture, the festival also hosts horse racing events, tug of war, skating races, CRPF band show and boat races on the Nakki Lake. The festival concludes with a dazzling display of fireworks and the gorgeous landscape of Mount Abu, with its verdant hills and lakes, make it a one-of-its-kind experience.
