Planning to visit the royal city of Jaipur? Then let us help you pack right for your trip!
Jaipur is the capital of the desert state of Rajasthan, making the winter days warm and toasty and nights chilly, with temperatures ranging between 5ºc to 15ºc. Summer days scorch in higher 40s while nights cool down only marginally.
The city does get a bit of rains during the monsoon months of July, August and September, but its sparse and with intermittent dry spells. So, don’t worry about getting caught in a torrent!
Clothes
So while you must get those woollen jumpers and sweaters, don’t forget the hat and lighter cotton clothes too, for the desert sun can be a little harsh even in winters! We would recommend a light jacket or a wind cheater for taking our Cycle Tours or the Jeep Safari.
At the same time, don’t forget to get a couple of shirts or tee shirts if you plan to be out in the day-time. The sun is high up and temperatures can climb to mid 20s easily. So if you’re the one declaring summers at the sight , you will need those lighter clothes too!
#ProTip Carry a shawl to warm up instantly in case it gets windy and chilly suddenly, while being stylish at the same time!
Summers are hot and it is always better to stay covered to avoid sun damage. Hats and stoles will be your best buddies to keep the harsh sun at bay. Lighter, breathable cottons are the perfect fabric to keep you cool during your day excursions as well as nights out!
Also it is always a good idea to keep the sentiments of the land in mind while choosing the kind of clothes to pack. The people are still very traditional when it comes to visiting temples and other places of worship, and wearing appropriately covered clothes to show respect to the deity and the religious sentiments, is always recommended. So, pack a long sleeved tee and trousers, specially if you are taking the Temple Walk or visiting Amber with us.
#ProTip Long sleeves keep you safe from mosquitoes too!
Shoes
Jaipur is one the oldest and most impeccably planned cities in India. There are architectural and historical gems tucked away in every narrow lane you enter. So the best way to explore the city is on foot, making flat, comfortable, walking shoes a must have in your bag.
They’ll come in handy when you take our Amber Trek, Heritage Walk or Food and Craft Walks too !
Other Essentials
As we mentioned, Jaipur is part of the vibrant desert of Rajasthan, and even as the winters get cold and chilly, the sun remains harsh for most part of the day. So don’t forget to pack your Sunglasses, Hat and SPF 15 Sunscreen too.
Same applies to Summer months as well where you’ll need to be safe from the sun during the day tours. An umbrella to give you some respite can also be carried.
Ladies a bit of sweat-proof make-up also comes in handy!
Also, although you aren’t in the tropics, carrying and applying a good mosquito repellent isn’t a bad idea!
And absolutely don’t forget to bring your Camera for capturing the beautiful and colourful city of Jaipur, especially if you are taking our City Tour with Photographer!
A small essential medicine kit with Oral Rehydration Salts and medicines for Delhi-Belly also comes in handy even though most medicines are easily available in the city.
In the end, pack and travel light so you can enjoy the journey even more. The city mostly has everything you could need available easily. And most importantly, remember - The less you carry the more space you’ll have in the bag for the things you shop here!
Happy Packing !
