Good news for wildlife enthusiasts!
On the International Tiger Day i.e 29 July 2016, the Rajasthan Forest Department issued decrees for reopening zone 6 - 10 of Ranthambore Tiger Reserve this monsoon season. According to the official order issued by the legal authorities, the wildlife safari's will start again in Zone 6 - 10 with effect from 01 August ,2016 in the Ranthambore National Park. About a month ago, after objection from NTCA (National Tiger Conservation Authority) the Forest Department had banned tourist safari activities in these zones during the monsoons, but taking into consideration the local people’s livelihood and other circumstances, Forest Department of Rajasthan has agreed to allow tourists for Jungle safari in a few selective zones of the Tiger reserve. These Ranthambhore safari zones are included in Critical Tiger Habitat (CTH), where there is movement of over 10 tigers.
Point to be noted is that, the monsoons is the breeding season for the wild animals and more importantly the safari routes get damaged and slippery during this period, therefore making it more prone to accidents. This is the reason the NTCA strictly banns tourism from 01 July to 30 September every year. But keeping in mind the livelihood of the locals as well as the inflow of tourists in Sawai Madhopur by 'The Palace On Wheels' in September, the authorities have reconsidered the decision and partially opened the National Park. Tourist zones 6 to 10 have been ordered to re-open for the game safari with effect from today.
