Now, no need to plan your journey sooner as the Railways have cut the maximum period for advanced reservation of tickets from 4 months to 60 days with effect from May 1.
However, tickets booked up to April 30 under the 120-day reservation period would be valid, says a railway circular. Foreign tourists would continue to enjoy the facility of booking ticket 360 days in advance.
The Railways have retained the lower time limit for reservation for certain trains such as the Taj Express and the Gomti Express. It was in March 2012 that the Railways increased the advance reservation period from 90 to 120 days.
The reduction of advance reservation period to 60 days will be a deterrent for touts who book bulk tickets in advance. We hope the reduction of booking period will help genuine travellers.
