Jaipur will host a mega cinema event of 16 International Film Festivals (16IFF) concurrently in this month. The mega event, the first of its kind in the world, is organized jointly by Jaipur International Film Festival Trust and Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) at the prestigious Golecha Cinema daily from 15 - 22 May, 2016.
A total of 975 films were submitted from 60 countries for the festivals, of which 65 movies were selected for screening. The selected films include 7 feature films, 5 documentary feature films, 9 documentary short films, 28 short fiction films, 2 animation feature films, 7 short animation films and 7 commercial films. 22 films are from India while 43 are foreign productions.
Each festival will be dedicated to a specific subject such as 'Development', 'Democracy', 'Human Rights', 'Women Issues', 'Arts and Culture', 'Children', 'Politics' and 'Corruption' in addition to animation and horror films. Discussion sessions will follow the screening of each film. The main objective of the simultaneous film festivals is to create awareness about the issues raised in the selected films. Discussion sessions have been designed to take into account the intellectual needs of film-goers in all age groups.
