Where: Pushkar, Rajasthan
Giving further boost to the tourist inflow in this pilgrim town of Rajasthan, the state forest department had finally given its consent to a long awaited rope-way project that connects pilgrims to the Savitri temple at Pushkar. Proposed eight years ago, the project was awaiting the forest officials' approval.
Chief minister Vasundhara Raje inaugurated the rope-way in the holy town of Pushkar on Tuesday and also enjoyed the rope-way ride with rural woman at the Savitri hill. The rope-way facility will not only help tourists but also facilitate devotees who want to visit the ancient temple of goddess Savitri, situated on the hill at a height of 200 mt. The Savitri hill offers an outstanding panoramic view of the entire city of Pushkar. The total 720 meters ride, to and fro, will be covered in six minutes. Earlier the rugged terrain made the climb more difficult to reach the Savitri temple, but with the rope-way, not only has the distance been reduced, there is easy access to the one and only Savitri temple in the country along with a big boost to the tourism in the city.
